Training 稽古

Goju-Ryu Karate (剛柔流空手) is a traditional style of Okinawan karate (沖縄空手) that blends hard (go 剛) and flexible (ju 柔) techniques, creating a balanced and effective martial art. It emphasizes powerful strikes, dynamic breathing, circular movements, and close-range combat, making it both practical and deeply rooted in philosophy.

This style was founded by Chojun Miyagi (宮城長順) in the early 20th century. Inspired by Chinese martial arts and the Okinawan tradition of self-defense, Miyagi-sensei developed Goju-Ryu to harmonize strength and flexibility, discipline and flow. Today, it is practiced worldwide by those seeking physical fitness, mental focus, and self-defense skills.

Our regular training includes:

  • Kihon 基本 (basic techniques)
  • Kata 型 (forms that preserve traditional movements)
  • Kumite 組手 (sparring and partner drills)
  • Conditioning and breathing exercises 準備運動・補助運動・呼吸法
  • Self-defense applications 護身術
