Train to improve personality

In Okinawa karate, there are not only Waza and Kata, but also the wisdom that
nurtures the heart. “Wisdom” here is not just knowledge or experience. It is a deep
insight that identifies the essence of things and makes the right decisions in order to
live better.

Karate is martial art for peace

Chojun Miyagi, the founder of Goju-ryu karatedo, left the following last instruction as
a basic principle. “Hit not. Be not hit. Avoiding conflict is the fundamental principle.”

This word has a deep meaning of “avoiding conflict itself and preserving peace”.
A heart that tries to build a harmonious environment and relationships so that there
will not be conflict in the first place. Through these practices, we are fostered in the
power to choose peace.

This is not just passively waiting for peace, but the courage to maintain calmness even
in the scene of anger and conflict and choose the path of “not to fight” yourself.

A spirit of gratitude

In karate, there is a teaching called “the heart of Shurei.” This is a heart that values
courtesy and respect for others. It is a wisdom that protects harmony between people.
Karate is “Nuchigusui” – a medicine of life to heal the mind and body and live better.
That spirituality of the Okinawa Karate attracts people from all over the world.

  • Junbi Undo 準備運動 (conditioning excises for karate)
  • Kihon 基本 (basic techniques)
  • Kata 型 (forms that preserve traditional movements)
  • Kumite 組手 (sparring and partner drills)
  • Hojo Undo 補助運動 (extra core muscle trainings)
